PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor school grounds, cafeteria, restrooms and halls to assure all conduct is in accord with school policies.
- Perform security checks of school buildings to include doors secure, report safety concerns.
- Direct campus traffic, parking, school bus drop-offs and pick-ups.
- Monitor and operate CCTV systems, mobile radios, Fire/Burglar Alarms
- Issue summary citations for violations of Pa Vehicle Code or Pa Crimes code
- Complete necessary reports, investigations and building checks.
- Escort students to or from classrooms, offices, cafeteria or other areas as required.
- Assist building principals or assistant principals as needed.
- Assist school and district officials with their efforts to enforce Board of Education policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Administration, Safety and Security Supervisor, School Police Lead Officer.
- Initiate interaction with students in general areas of school building. Promote profession of public safety and be a positive role model.
- Build working relationships with school’s staff and students.
- Work closely with local law enforcement
- Provide security for extracurricular activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic MPOETC training (Act 120).
- Graduate of Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
- Previously employed as a PSP Trooper, and separated in good standing.
- Military Police Training (MP). OR
- Previously employed in Law Enforcement to include Act 2
- Able to work under pressure independently and/or in a group setting.
- Must be familiar with PA law as it relates to law enforcement.
POSSESS AND KEEP CURRENT:
- Must complete NASRO training or equivalent.
- Must complete 12 hours mandatory annual in-service training.
- Must complete CPR/AED/FIRST AID training.
- Must complete firearm training if required.
- Must possess or be eligible for Act 235.
- Must complete Safe Crisis Management training.
- Successful completion of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code).
- Successful completion of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code).
- Successful completion of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994.
- Successful completion of Federal Criminal History Record in accordance with Act 114 of 2006.
REQUIREMENTS: Act 24 Arrest/Conviction Certification; Act 34 Criminal Clearance; Act 151 Child Line Clearance; Act 114 FBI Fingerprinting Security Clearances; Act 168 Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release and SafeSchools Training; Must be willing to use personal vehicle to travel between school buildings. Mileage reimbursable.
